Capital Group's sustainability strategy centres on renewable energy, energy-efficient office design, and resource-efficient operations. Our commitment to environmental sustainability and social responsibility is exemplified by our new offices in London at 1 Paddington Square.
The Paddington location offers exceptional access to London's public transport, with connections to five underground lines and the Heathrow Express services. The building features numerous sustainable elements such as rainwater harvesting, grey water recycling, an onsite solar panel system provided by the landlord, and electricity procured from renewable energy sources. Additionally, it uses a double skin glazed façade with an intelligent blind system to manage heat gain and loss, thereby reducing the need for supplementary heating and cooling.
This new hub in London has achieved LEED Gold and BREEAM Excellent status for its sustainable design and fit-out. It has also been awarded with the 2024 FX award for UK Workspace Design. Furthermore, the company holds ISO14001 and ISO45001 certifications, ensuring that environmental management and employee health and well-being remain priorities.
The workspace incorporates LED lighting systems to reduce energy consumption, hand dryers in restrooms to eliminate the use of paper towels, and dual flush toilets to minimize water usage. A significant number of plants have been added to enhance the office environment and improve air quality.
The catering operation employs crockery and metal cutlery instead of disposables and collaborates with organizations such as Change Please and PACT to provide socially responsible coffee and tea, supporting local homeless communities and independent coffee farmers globally. In partnership with OLIO, surplus food that cannot be sold or served in meetings is redistributed to those in need through local communities and charities.
